Well, I am back...
Not quite as I had hoped to be, but when Life makes up its mind to make your own small existence challenging, sometimes you just have to get on with it! As many of you know, I have been on hiatus due to what has now been diagnosed as carpal tunnel and fibromyalgia. Hopefully some surgery lies in my near future (which should help with most of the pain) but until then I have decided to return to blogland because I have missed you all so much! I will be doing one regular post a week from now on; I'm hoping this will keep things down to a manageable size, because I have many exciting new projects on the go which I can't wait to tell you all about!
But first, I must pass on some very belated gratitude. I was awarded The Prolific Blogger award quite some time ago by the wonderful Kimmy of KimmyStyle. (By the way, the irony of being named for that award at the exact time when I took a long hiatus from regular blogging is not lost on me...) Kimmy writes a fantastic blog about all things vintage fabulous, and I am constantly impressed with her carefully researched features on those glamorous stars of old hollywood. She has impeccable taste, and I think she is one of those rare people who the universe really should gift with millions of dollars, because unlike the slough of tacky nouveau riche who populate the wasteland of reality tv these days, she would actually make properly elegant use of her money.
My favorite thing about this honor is the original post by the creator of the award, the writer of Advance Booking. She talks about the deceiving amount of work and commitment that goes into writing a good blog. It can truly feel like a full time job! I certainly don't feel very worthy of this award right now, but I will do my best to live up to it in the future!
So I would now like to take this opportunity to pass this award on to some of my favorite blogs whose content might appear effortlessly elegant, but is undoubtedly the result of much hard work and commitment!
Disegno Karina Gentinetta Her blog features gorgeous images from and inspired by her antique decor boutique, but perhaps even more beautiful are the exquisite stories she recounts about her family which have often moved me to tears. Karina's courage to leave the corporate world behind and follow her passion is truly inspiring!
Couture Millinery Atelier Anya Caliendo is a true millinery artist, and her fascinating blog posts about the wonderful world of couture hats have opened up a whole new world (and obsession!) for me. I never knew I was missing out on such an amazing artistic landscape!
Decor de Provence Interior design aficionado Desireé Ashworth regularly posts on the beauties of French, Gustavian and Belgian decor. I don't know where she finds all her gorgeous images, but she is one of my favorite stops for wonderful visual inspiration!
Scoutie Girl The most kick in the pants, get off your bottom, follow your dreams and live your life blog on the internet! Tara Gentille started a blog about her passion for handmade goods, and it has turned into a veritable phenomenon. Virtually any Etsy seller who is passionate about their own business regularly tunes into Scoutie Girl for a little pick me up of "you can do it too!"
The Paris Apartment I have to admit to having a serious girl crush on the fabulous Claudia...she lives the glamourous life I covet in my dreams! I live vicariously through her trips to Paris and other wonderful locales to hunt for antiques and treasures to turn her clients' abodes into havens of fabulousness. Of course, it is evident that there is a lot of hard work and airplane hours behind all that pretty, so I think she is particularly deserving of this award!
Classic Bride One of my favorite wedding bloggers, not only does she wade through an ocean of wedding photography in order to share the cream of the crop with her readers, but she also puts together beautifully styled vintage photo shoots that often showcase unique handmade goods. Sarah is a wonderful inspiration for all the brides-to-be trying to find their own wedding style among all the roses and tulle out there!
Inspiration in Italy This gorgeous fashionista embodies the spirit of this award; she and her husband uprooted their entire lives to move to Italy and create exquisite handmade one of a kind clothing surrounded by European elegance. Rachel's poise and talent as she documents their adventure and passion is a true inspiration to anyone pursuing their own artistic dreams!
